Introduction to Cyanotypes Jan. 20

The cyanotype, or blueprint, is a beautiful way to interpret and print many photographic images. Even a digital image from a smartphone can be source material for this unique printing process. Cyanotypes are one of the least expensive traditional printing processes and something you can continue on your own at home.

In this workshop we will learn where to buy and how to mix the chemicals for this popular process. We will learn different coating methods and see results from different types of substrates. Participants will be required to submit 1 digital photo prior to the workshop, so that one digital negative can be made for each person to print. Participants should also consider bringing interesting shaped objects to use for making photograms (shadow pictures). Cyanotype is a contact printing process, therefore printed images will only be as large as the negative used so keep that in mind when submitting your image.

You will leave with 2-3 beautiful cyanotype images at the end of this mini workshop!
