Two circles, a triangle, and a rectangle: a face can be simplified so much, but it will always capture the most intense of our emotions. A subject of interest for artists of millennia, researchers, and everybody else trying to decipher how that person really feels, the human portrait is a key into our inner worlds. And that is why we will paint it.
In this 4 session workshop series, we will explore some great abstract artists — Pablo Picasso and Jean Michel-Basquiat — and experiment to develop our own unique spin on their styles. They used imagination, movement, and color to create powerful portraits.
I will teach you the fundamentals of their styles, and we will do a whole lot of painting. Throughout this time, you will have the chance to develop your own style. If you’re looking for a chance to learn, have fun, and express yourself, then this is the class for you.
Instruction is $30 total, to be paid at the first class in cash or check. For supplies, you can bring your own or pay $5 to use the essentials. Supplies include: paper and/or canvas ; paint brushes; acrylic paint; charcoal; oil pastels. ****
