Garland Art Walk Call for Artists

The City of Garland’s Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Arts Department is partnering with GISD on their upcoming Big Art Day, a one day event celebrating the arts in our schools, but also in our greater community. To help us kick off the soon to be approved Cultural Arts Master Plan, we plan to host an Art Walk in conjunction with Big Art Day this year. To curate an artistic vibe for the event, we encourage all artisans and performers to join us in this cultural arts celebration, and we would love to have you participate.

Date: September 18, 2021

Time: Big Art Day will begin at 11am and go to 4pm. The Art Walk will begin at 11am and go until at least 5pm (tentatively). Please note, performers may be on a different schedule than artisans.

Where: Downtown Garland – we will have artists and performers housed within downtown businesses, as well as along our designated Art Walk path outdoors.

Cost: Free! There is no charge to participate in Art Walk, however we do ask that you register with us to be approved for a space during the event. You are welcome to sell your art or music during this event.

How to register: Please send me an email with your name and contact information (email, phone, website, and social media). We are asking artisans to bring their own table for the event. We may have pop up tents and tables to rent if needed. Let me know what type of art you create (mixed media, watercolor, oil, fiber arts, wood arts, etc.) or if you are a performer let me know what it is that you do – type of dance, music, or other visual performance. Please note if you will need access to electricity. You can send me a few pictures to help with publicity. We want to market our artisans through social media and garner attention for this community event. We are looking for a variety of artisans and performers and will send out welcome letters with more details to those approved for the event. Indoor spaces will go fast, so register early!

We encourage you to share this event with other artisans and performers, and help us celebrate arts and culture. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me. I look forward to working with you all in future endeavors with the City of Garland’s arts and culture!

Thanks,

Michelle Norris
