About the Exhibition

Interactions. Between heat, glazes, forms, layers and colors. Geometric forms are abstracted by layers of glaze and color, creating graffiti-like surfaces. The results are unpredictable and organic.

I have been an artist for more than 30 years, but I usually worked in two dimensions— photography and graphic design. Both mediums tend to be very precise and ordered. Recently I have started working in clay. It has been an exciting challenge to expand from two to three dimensions, and from the controlled nature of photography and graphic design into the more serendipitous character of working with mud and fire.

With clay, my hands interact directly with the material, and my mind responds to the unpredictable organic results the process offers me. My process is to create forms that are reminiscent of geometric shapes that interact with chemical and physical interactions between materials, forms, layers, and heat.
