Taking Your Painting to the Next Level

Every Monday in E. Melinda Morrison’s studio

10am – 1pm, Fort Worth, TX 76110

$50/class, 3 classes per month required

Class Description
Melinda teaches on the tools painters need in their tool belt to solve problems in painting. Being intentional and doing preparation prior to painting goes a long way in the creation of a successful painting, but we all need those problem-solving tools (drawing, composition, value, color/temperature, edges, and texture) to help us address problem areas.  This will be a “paint along and problem-solve” class where students will be working on their own projects in the class using their own reference.  However, we will have a model once a month as Melinda strongly believes, values are learned from painting from life.

Group and individual critique of work that students bring to class is offered in the class. Based on the students level of expertise,  Melinda will provide ideas and exercises for students so they can work on improving their skills.  Those exercises can be done at home or in class.  Additionally, Melinda will introduce students to other artists’ work as she is an advocate of learning from the masters (both past and contemporary) and going back to the basics if needed.  It’s an opportunity for the student to grow as a painter and challenge themselves in overcoming their mistakes.  All levels of experience are welcome.  Oils, acrylics, egg tempera and charcoal are the mediums used in this class.

This class is on a month-by-month basis and is $50/class and requires a month-by-month commitment.  If a student knows they will not be available for a class at the beginning of each month, they can just pay for the time they will be coming (3 classes per month is required to maintain your spot in the class).  There are no makeups and the class is limited to no more than 7 students in the class.

Please contact Melinda at 303-881-1122 or [email protected] to hold your spot. More of Melinda’s work can be seen at www.emelindamorrison.com.
